The CMT credential is offered by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and is awarded upon successfully passing the AHDI certification examination for medical transcriptionists. This credential demonstrates competency in medical transcription and high professional and ethical standards. As of April 2009 there were only 2758 CMTs.
